ACHUAdaptive Reuse

The ACHU aims to provide proof that the “luxury” of having a home is not a luxury that the indigent cannot afford, ofcourse through the right usage of available resources and dedicated architectural design. The idea came to life after an investor had an excess of shipping containers that could be dedicated to serve a purpose. Hence project ACHU came to life by converting this containers into inhabitable homes that will meet the county’s building code, with minimal environmental footprint. The ACHU’s project is planned to house a community of affordable housing on affordable land, the ACHU will literally and physically grow with its community as they age and regenerate. The way ACHUs grow will be dependant on the users’ family size and needs, a couple can start with building one unit, and add more units as plugins as their needs grow

.The
beauty of the community where ACHUs will be built is that individuals will share the equal right to having a decent home. A home of their own. ACHUs might be in a moderately decentral location. But by no means it would have any less of home qualities any normal home has. The housing community will be located on a land that is affordable by the indigent where they can kickstart a promising beginning. This will make the project perfect for people who have always dreamt of having a home but never affored one,
and/or also for people seeking temporary residence.
